My Sister’s world wind Wine Dine and Rock visit
With some delay I am finally writing up about my sister’s visit to Australia in October. It was a pretty world wind kinda time of year as no sooner were we in chaos with getting our floors and lawn done than I was away in South Africa for a week and then back for two days before my she arrived.
She was not here all that long, but we had a blast.
The main event was the INXS concert on the Monday 18th. The lead up to the day was so great that I could not believe it had arrive. We met a few of Charlotte’s INXS friends before the show, which was an experience in itself and then made it to our 2nd row seats. The concert was fantastic. We were so close and the atmosphere was adrenalinating. Charlotte had made a few signs.. one was for Kirk that she got to show him while he was sitting right in front of us, that he acknowledged with a smile and a lots of kisses, the other was for JD, saying she had a Sid Viscous T-shirt for him and the Third was her own singlet “VISCOUS”.
Eventually JD took the T-shirt and fairly promptly removed his other shirt.. Ooooo.. and put on Sid. How cool is that! It just made the concert, knowing he was wearing the T-shirt that she gave him. Brian was wearing the same shirt at their Nashville concert and JD had commented how he liked it, so what the God liketh, the God shall receive.
The other cool thing about the night was before the concert, Charlotte got to talking to these two cute girls who one of them turned out to be one of the Farris’s daughter’s. They were so cool.
After the concert, I decided to take Charlotte to the Crown casino, which was where she believed they were staying. After a good look around we stopped for a drink at a little bar and listed to an acoustic two-piece band. It was great to chill back and have a chat. Then I took her for a look at the grand atrium where the Christmas spectacular is usually set up and took a walk on the grand staircase. Turning the corner looking for a toilet, we noticed the band in the little cocktail bar, tucked away and on our way back from the toilet, Jon Farris stopped for a chat with us and said we could come in and have a drink. Who were we to argue?
Wow, how was that for luck. It was quite a surreal experience. We just soaked up their presence and had a few drinksâ¦. No groupie tactics, although Charlotte wished she had said something, but we really just had a couple of drinks and a chat. At the end of the night when the band dispersed, we went home, happy with a satisfying night.
While she was here, Charlotte wanted to get a Tattoo, so with the help of Paul, a great design by Charlotte and a few enlargements, we went to High street and got it done. It looks great and is a combination of all the countries that have made up her life.
Even with her short stay we managed to do a great self guided winery tour. (thanks to my wonderful pregnant friend Katie for driving us). We went down to the Bellarine Peninsula wineries and sampled a few specimens. Among them were, Jindalee, Oakdene, Petaville and St Regis. We also stopped at Queenscliff for lunch at the Inn and at Michaelâs mumâs for a cuppa. On the way home we took in a couple more wineries for their views and not their goods.
Other events we managed to squeeze in were a visit to the Victorian Markets, Mall shopping, Thai diner and a small party at our place.
It was fantastic to have her over and she will always be the best sister I could ever hope for.
